Source flow between two non-coaxial rotating cylinders
Abstract
The two-dimensional flow of an incompressible fluid between two rotating non-coaxial cylinders is investigated theoretically for the case when the fluid is injected uniformly through the surface of the inner cylinder and removed through the surface of the outer cylinder. Small eccentricities are taken into account in the governing Navier-Stokes equations for the case where the gap between the cylinders is finite. Solutions are also presented for the geometrical restrictions of the narrow gap. It is found that the force component in the x-direction on the inner cylinder is due to the radial flow.
