Cosmic rays as probes of heliosphere and magnetospheres: rapporteur talk on MG-2 and -5 (of the conference).
Abstract
The use of cosmic-ray observations to characterize heliospheric and magnetospheric phenomena is discussed in a summary of contributions to sessions MG-2 and MG-5 of the 18th International Cosmic Ray Conference. Topics considered include solar-cycle modulation; radial gradients; anomalous components, He, and O; spectra, protons, alpha particles, electrons, and response functions; hysteresis and time and energy components; the solar magnetic field and its reversal; new periodicity observations; and the earth magnetosphere. Tables, diagrams, and graphs of sample data are provided.
