Investigation of scintillations in regions near the sun.
Abstract
A technique based on the study of scintillations of water-vapor maser sources has been developed for investigating the solar wind. The radial dependence of the scintillation index is investigated at a wavelength of 1.35 cm in the regime of weak scintillations for a point source near the sun, i.e., about 10 solar radii from the sun. The existence of a region of high values of the scintillation index is detected, this region being identified with the region of supersonic-flow formation.
