Steady condensation processes in supersonic nozzles
Abstract
Published experimental results on the condensation of water vapor from moist air in a Laval-nozzle flow and a Prandtl-Meyer-corner expansion and the resulting heat production are subjected to dimensional analysis. The flow parameters are shown to be affected at the point of incipient condensation, and expressions for calculating the adiabatic supercooling are derived from the equations describing spontaneous steady nonequilibrium condensation. Numerical results of the calculations are plotted with the experimental data, and good agreement is found.
