Double-square frequency-selective surfaces and their equivalent circuit
Abstract
An equivalent-circuit model for an array of double squares is presented, together with its transmission characteristics. On the basis of the performance of 13 different arrays, the general form of the plane-wave transmission/frequency curves for frequency-selective surfaces consisting of arrays of double squares is deduced. Band spacing ratios between 1.5 and approximately 2.2 are available. An equivalent circuit for design work is also presented. As is usually the case with equivalent circuit models, the results obtained apply to plane wave normal incidence only; they are, however, good guides to the location of the bands at oblique incidence.
