A set function to cluster analysis

The authors develop a new approach for the clustering, based on a set function that they call scattering measure. Their formalization is more general than the classical construction of clusters using a similarity measure. Several generalizations of well-known clustering methods are discussed and, an original non hierarchical but divisive algorithm is presented.
