Characterisation of the 50-70 GHz band for space communications
Abstract
The propagation characteristics of the 60GHz oxygen absorption band have been studied, using the most up-to-date information in order to obtain adequate models for the transfer characteristics of the earth's atmosphere at these frequencies. The dependence on height and the variations with climatic conditions are investigated. The results are used to study the limitations and feasibility of the application of different types of satellite communications in the 50-70 GHz frequency band.
