On the development of ionospheric Es-s over Wuchang, China and its related factors
Abstract
Ionospheric Es-s data over Wuchang, China, are analyzed and theoretically investigated. It is shown that the occurrence of Es-s is proportional to a certain factor, and is clearly influenced by the power of the equipment used. Es-s seems to occur on magnetically undisturbed days, due to the limitation on observability caused by high f(min) on disturbed days. Proper related phenomena exist both as the preparatory stage and the aftermath to the occurrence of Es-s over Wuchang. Stratification also generally exists due to acoustic gravity waves. The lunar effect may be a common source of these phenomena.
