A simplified approach to the design of apodised SAW filters
Abstract
A method based on the delta-functions model is given for the computation of the admittance matrix of a SAW filter composed by a pair of inter-digital transducers, the transmitting one apodised and the receiving one with uniform overlaps. Through this computation method the insertion loss and the impedance levels of the filter with frequency can be easily obtained with an accuracy similar to that of the classical transmission line model of the filter, with much less computational efforts. A good accordance has been obtained between the measured parameters of a test filter and those given by the procedure outlined.
