The second Byurakan spectral sky survey. I. Quasistellar and Seyfert objects.
Abstract
Results are presented for the second spectral survey, conducted since 1978 at the Byurakan Observatory using the 40-52 Schmidt telescope in combination with a set of objective prisms, which covers the region of the northern sky between 8-17 h in alpha and 49-61 deg in delta. Improved methods allow the study of objects with peculiar physical natures down to 19-20 m. The peculiar galaxies and stellar objects that were identified were then studied at the Special Astrophysical Observatory with the 6 m telescope. Data are presented for 21 QSO and 10 Seyfert objects which have been discovered among the 70 peculiar objects identified. The remaining objects were determined to be white dwarfs, subdwarfs, or doubtful QSOs.
