Thruster-exhaust-plume impingement disturbance torque in three-axis stabilized satellite
Abstract
The thruster-exhaust plume impingement disturbance torque (plume torque) of the medium-scale Broadcasting Satellite (BS) for experimental purposes is obtained by the Plume-Impingement Torque Simulation software (PITS) based on the simple plume-interaction model, and is then compared with the BS plume-torque data. It is shown that the plume torque considerably depends on the momentum accommodation coefficient (AC). The BS plume torque is in reasonable agreement with the BS data for a reasonably estimated value of AC. Therefore, the PITS may be available for the plume-torque estimation in forthcoming three-axis stabilized satellites.
