The gasdynamic momentum of flow in axisymmetric channels
Abstract
A theoretical analysis of real-gas flows is used to obtained a general expression for the gasdynamic momentum of a flow issuing from an axisymmetric channel. This expression takes into account turbulent and viscous stresses in the whole flow, which leads to the determination of a new component (the turbulent component) of the gasdynamic momentum. The effect of the boundary layer on the value of the gasdynamic momentum is evaluated. Formulas are obtained for calculating gasdynamic-momentum losses due to gas friction against the wall for flows in channels at large Reynolds numbers.
