Oscillator strengths for the vibrational induced electric-dipole transitions in Cs2NaRCI6
Abstract
The vibrational modes of the elpasolite structure CsZNaRCl6 are discussed in detail. The interaction potential of the rare earth ion substituted at the R site is developed for multipolar charge distribution on the ligand (c) site. The theory is used to calculate the vibronic transition intensity for the Nu 6(87/cm) made for Er in CsZNaErCl6. The results indicate that the strength of the vibronic transition is approximately the same as the strength of the magnetic dipole transition. The vibronic line strength for transitions to the other multiplets was, in general, less than the corresponding magnetic dipole transitions.
