Statistical characterization of a system of two mutually synchronized oscillators
Abstract
This paper presents a theory for a system of two mutually synchronized phase-locked oscillators. The theory is based on the treatment of sinusoidal phase-locked loops operating in the nonlinear regime. Three key phase increment processes are defined, their physical meaning explained and their probability density functions derived. The effects of transmission delays and frequency instabilities in the system are studied through their effects on the densities of these increments.
