Properties of a 0-mode RFQ structure and recent experimental results
Abstract
For low frequency operation of RFQ linacs a new RF scheme was developed. The linac consists of a chain of resonators, electrically excited in the 0-mode, the fields are generated by four modulated rods. The construction allows direct cooling of the electrodes and therefore cw operation. The RF properties like RP values, resonant frequencies, field distribution for systems with 4 and with 12 electrodes are presented. Coaxial 1/4 resonator sparking tests were performed at different pulse lengths and duty cycles. The status of the RFQ proton model, which uses the split coaxial structure as resonant cavity, is reported.
