Flow and heat transfer past a semi-infinite vertical plate with oscillating plate temperature
Abstract
The response of laminar boundary layer flow past a semiinfinite vertical plate to harmonic oscillations in the plate temperature in the form of a travelling wave convected in the direction of the free-stream has been studied taking into account the free convection currents. Series solutions in terms of small amplitude and the small frequency to coupled nonlinear equations are derived and by usual transformations these are converted into quasi-linear ordinary differential equations. These are solved numerically by computer. Viscous dissipation effects are also taken into account. The functions A1 and K1 affecting the velocity and the temperature field are shown on graphs.
