Complexities of the storm time characteristics of ionospheric total electron content
Abstract
The complexities of the storm-time variations of the ionospheric total electron content (TEC) are briefly reviewed. It is suggested that large variations from storm to storm may be due to irregular flows from the auroral region towards equator. A proper study of such flows needs an elaborate network of TEC measuring instruments. The need of planning and organizing such a network is emphasized.
