Internal flowfield investigation: An overview
Abstract
A program to examine the internal flow field of solid propellant rocket motors is reviewed. The problems of combustion instability, motor performance and material erosion are addressed. Technical issues include: characterization of vortex shedding phenomena, accounting for grain asymmetry and multidimensional ballistics, and better particle tracking as required for particle erosion calculations.
