Properties of a gasdynamic NO2 laser
Abstract
Experimental test results are reported concerning the amplifying properties of a shock-heated mixture containing N2O molecules. Toepler and interferometric measurements were made of a stream passing through a wedge-shaped nozzle to record the gasdynamic characteristics of jets through wedge- and slit-shaped nozzles. It is shown that at fixed temperatures, the population inversion in a jet behind a wedge nozzle is greater than for a slit nozzle, and the required working pressure is also less.
