Analysis of the electromagnetic field in an open resonator
Abstract
Calculations are carried out for the electromagnetic field of an open resonator with spherical mirrors for the case of TEM(00q) modes assuming zero ohmic losses and negligibly small diffraction losses (i.e., the mirror dimensions are much greater than the wavelength). Analytical expressions are obtained for the field components with symmetric and nonsymmetric distributions of the main component within the resonator. Dispersion equations allowing for the vector nature of the field are presented. It is shown that the field is elliptically polarized in the beam cross section.
