The EOSAEL 80: A users' guide
Abstract
The use of the general purpose atmospheric optics modeling program, EOSAEL 80, (Electro Optical Systems Atmospheric Effects Library) is described. EOSAEL 80 was designed by the Atmospheric Sciences Laboratory, White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. It allows transmission estimates to be made in a wide variety of situations including through smoke, dust and natural clouds. The EOSAEL 80's capabilities and limitations are explained, introducing the user to the main assumptions made in the models and making the user aware of exactly what information he needs to have at hand in order to run EOSAEL 80. Examples of test runs and of typical results that can be obtained from EOSAEL 80 are provided.
