Elements of trommel dynamics: Drag-free case, a working paper
Abstract
The problem of the dynamics of an isolated particle in a trommel under no drag and with an infinitely rough wall, i.e., particle to wall friction coefficient (f/sub w/ (FEMALE) infinity), representing a limit case of infinite dilution of vanishingly small loading, is examined and discussed in detail. The time interval between impingements, progression along the axis during one cycle, number of impingements and residence time in the trommel, and mass flow rate are calculated. Also, presented are relating the number of impingements to the desired screening efficiency and application to design parameters.
