The LF/MF radio-data: Mush-area reception tests
Abstract
Program compatibility reception tests of a proposed data transmission system for l.f. radio broadcasting are described. The tests demonstrate that the proposed system, which employs carrier phase modulation, is compatible with program reception in the 'mush areas' between co-channel, co-program stations, provided that the data signals radiated for the stations are identical and 'delay equalized' to arrive in the mush area in synchronism. Data reception tests were also carried out which indicate that if program compatibility is achieved, data reception is also feasible.
