Spacelab EMC design
Abstract
Spacelab electrical bonds, grounding, power filters, harness design and safety margin/signal interfaces of EMC design features are discussed. Electromagnetic compatibility experience acquired with Spacelab is summarized. It is argued that MIL-STD-461 is useful only as a starting point for design. Design requirements should be established for each system, and detailed definitions of interfaces should be given to contractors. The combination of EMC and power quality requirements into one specification is suggested.
