Finite element analysis for the determination of the unsteady temperature distribution in a flat plate during a welding job under atmospheric conditions
Abstract
The transient temperature distributions in a plate during welding under atmospheric conditions are analyzed in order to develop the theoretical foundations for the numerical analysis of underwater welding processes (dry or wet). The analysis is based on the finite element method. The basic concepts of this method are explained. The temperatures along and transverse to the weld seam are given and the three-dimensional temperature distributions are presented.
