Numerical modelling in diffusion convection; Proceedings of the Fourth Polymodel Annual Conference, Sunderland Polytechnic, Sunderland, England, May 1981
Abstract
Attention is given to an overview of diffusion convection, asymptotic solutions of the convective diffusion equation, observations on the application of the finite element method for solving flow problems, flow and heat transfer in noncircular passages, the numerical solution of an advection-diffusion equation for a dissolved species in a pulsating crack, and a simulation of the flow of cooling oil in transformers. Numerical modelling of heat flow in the human torso is discussed, taking into account finite difference methods and finite element methods. Solutions of the diffusion-convection equation in the presence of condensation are considered along with modelling electromagnetic eddy currents, a one-dimensional equilibrium-diffusion code, and a parabolic, hyperbolic, or elliptical integration code series.
