Unsteady concentration distribution and the flow of a binary mixture in a cone and plate viscometer
Abstract
The unsteady concentration distribution and flow of a binary mixture has been studied for the geometry of cone and plate viscometer. The equations of motion for the flow and the equation for concentration of a component of the mixture, derived under the assumption of small gap angle and small Reynolds number, have been solved using Laplace transform technique and the solutions are presented in closed form. It is observed that the flow field attains a steady state earlier in time than the concentration distribution.
