Conditions of domain suppression in Gunn diodes under relaxation
Abstract
The conditions of domain suppression in Gunn diodes are analyzed for the case of relaxation oscillations of diode voltage using a well known equation for the domain voltage. A domain suppression criterion is thus obtained and then used to determine the boundary values of the frequency and the slope of the bias voltage front as a function of diode parameters and shunt capacitance. It is shown that the relaxation regime of domain voltage suppression in Gunn diodes is possible in a wider frequency range than follows from the known criterion.
