The propagation of narrow light beams in rain
Abstract
The intensity of narrow light beams in rain is investigated using the framework of the Markov approximation. The dependence of the intensity on the optical thickness is determined, and the parameter which is the quantitative criterion of the narrowness of the beam is examined. The applicability limits of the single-scattering approximation and Buger's law are estimated. The possibility of the effective focusing of the intensity in rain is shown.
