Parametric mixing of electromagnetic waves in superarrays
Abstract
A theoretical study is presented of the parametric mixing of electromagnetic waves in semiconductor superarrays with dissipation under conditions of strong nonlinearity. It is shown that, as a result of the disruption of the Manly-Row process, both the merging and the decay of waves leads to an exponential growth of the signal. The main mechanisms of amplification in this case are modified superheterodyne amplification and dissipative parametric instability.
