Disruption of the spatial coherence of a light-beam field in a two-phase medium
Abstract
The results of Mironov and Tuzova (1980) on the propagation of laser beams in the turbulent atmosphere in the presence of rain are generalized to the case of 'optically rigid' particles by taking into account the amplitude in the complex-phase expression. An expression is obtained for the coherence radius of a Gaussian beam in a two-phase medium, and an analysis is presented of the effect of the spatial boundedness of the beam on the distribution of mean intensity in the focal plane of the receiving lens.
