Results of the efficiency optimization of multicavity klystrons
Abstract
A one-dimensional nonlinear model was used for the efficiency optimization of five-, six-, and eight-cavity klystrons, devices suitable for use in the transmitters of satellite solar power stations. The efficiency, optimal parameters of the structure, and detuning are studied as a function of the electron-current magnitude and the width of the cavity gaps. It is shown that in optimal regimes the efficiency can attain a value of 90 percent and more.
