The effect of space charge on the stratification of an electron beam in an orotron
Abstract
Two-dimensional nonlinear theory is used to examine the effect of the nonuniformity (with respect to the thickness of the electron beam) of the external HF field and the space-charge field on the efficiency of orotrons with one-row and two-row gratings in the presence of a focusing magnetic field. It is shown that the HF-field nonuniformity has a significant effect on the electronic efficiency of systems with one-row structure. In systems with two-row structure, the space-charge field compensates for the stratification of the electron beam due to the HF-field nonuniformity.
