The effect of space charge on the stratification of an electron beam in an orotron
Abstract
Twodimensional nonlinear theory is used to examine the effect of the nonuniformity (with respect to the thickness of the electron beam) of the external HF field and the spacecharge field on the efficiency of orotrons with onerow and tworow gratings in the presence of a focusing magnetic field. It is shown that the HFfield nonuniformity has a significant effect on the electronic efficiency of systems with onerow structure. In systems with tworow structure, the spacecharge field compensates for the stratification of the electron beam due to the HFfield nonuniformity.
