Speeding up the adaptive optimization procedure for switching arrays
Abstract
An analysis is presented of the possibility of speeding up the adaptive optimization of switching arrays in the problem of discriminating between signals and noise with respect to arrival direction in the case of phase-shifter errors. This possibility relies on the simultaneous switching of several phase shifters, the limitation of the aperture region where sample switchings of the phase shifters occur, and the cessation of the search for the best stepwise switching after a specified level of noise suppression has been achieved. The validity of this approach is confirmed by computer simulation results.
