Improvement of the initial orbital elements of AES from observations at short arcs.
Abstract
A method is suggested for improved least-squares estimates and respective stochastic characteristics of initial orbital conditions of artificial Earth satellites based on data drawn out from new visual, photographic and laser observations of short arcs without the necessity of synchronization. New data for the orbit of the satellite can be included - orbital elements in the Greenwich coordinate system. A flattened spheroidal coordinate system is applied and development of coordinates in power series at regularized time and the respective coefficients are computed using recurrent formulae.
