Microscopic hopping and continuum diffusion in vicinity of a defect
Abstract
Particle hopping is treated in the neighborhood of an impurity which alters the hopping rates and equilibrium distribution. Mean field theory shows that an effective force term, which is present in the single particle limit, is screened out at high particle concentrations.
