Gain of a free-electron laser in the Magneto-Compton regime
Abstract
The gain of a free-electron laser in the presence of a guide magnetic field is calculated for the Raman and Compton regimes. It is found that the external magnetic field enhances the gains, and that for non-monoenergetic relativistic electron beams with a guide magnetic field the Compton process can become important.
