Heat transfer by free convection between two parallel flat plates
Abstract
In the present investigation, attention is given to an approach which takes into consideration the pressure drop. The governing equations and the method of numerical calculation are discussed, giving attention to a two-dimensional flow, in which all physical properties, with the exception of the density, are constant. The implementation of the considered approach is illustrated with the aid of an example. The example involves an application of the approach to a model reported by Kettleborough (1972). Kettleborough conducted a numerical study of the problem of free convection between two plates by using governing equations which were derived without using the boundary-layer approximation.
