Spectroscopy of molecular rotation in gases and liquids
Abstract
This book provides a review of contemporary studies regarding the rotation of simple molecules, taking into account aspects of transformation at the condensation of a gas into a liquid. Spectral phenomena related to the reduction in orientational mobility in dense media are discussed, giving attention to specific changes concerning rotational structures in infrared and Raman spectra. A critical comparison of all existing theoretical models of rotational and orientational relaxation is combined with an analysis of experimental data, and the formulation of new research projects which are suited to provide information regarding the mechanism of the considered phenomena. The book is intended for scientists who are concerned with optical and magnetic spectroscopy, and molecular and chemical physics. The book is also suited for students at higher educational institutions.
