The p-T-x diagrams for binary systems
Abstract
The effect of temperature and pressure on equilibrium in binary systems is examined, and the principal methods for the graphical representation of equilibrium are discussed. The main types of constitution diagrams are characterized, including pressure-temperature-composition, pressure-temperature, temperature-composition, and pressure-composition diagrams; the methods used in calculating and plotting such diagrams are reviewed. Examples of the various types of constitution diagrams are given for binary systems in which one or both components are metals.
