Modeling creep and predicting the long-term strength of metallic composite materials with brittle fibers
Abstract
The method that we developed to construct creep curves on a computer makes it possible to predict the three characteristic stages of composite creep with allowance for the accumulation of fiber ruptures. The proposed algorithm calls for the modeling of fiber ruptures both due to a stress increase and as a result of softening. The plotting of creep curves on a computer makes it possible to predict the behavior of eutectic metallic composite materials at different temperatures and loadings.
