Investigations on the sporadic radio radiation of the sun and of the parameters of the earth's ionosphere aboard Intercosmos-Copernicus 500. 6. Morphological and spectral characteristics of inhomogeneities of the ionosphere's electron concentration.
Abstract
Results are presented of studies of irregularities of ionospheric electron density performed in 1973 by the Copernicus-500 satellite. An impedance probe operating at frequencies of 3.1 and 15 MHz measured the electron density in the range of 1000 to 1,800,000/cu cm, and its irregularities with sizes ranging from 0.5 to 100 km, and relative fluctuations Delta-N/N not less than 0.0003. The probability of occurrence and intensity of the irregularities were investigated, and a spectral analysis of these irregularities was carried out for middle and equatorial latitudes, for daytime and nighttime, and for quiet and disturbed geomagnetic conditions at heights of 200 to 1500 km.
