The dispersion properties of artificial anisotropic dielectrics
Abstract
An analysis is presented of artificial anisotropic dielectrics consisting of regular spatial lattices with complex scattering centers in the nodes. Expressions are derived for the effective values of the permittivity and magnetic-permeability tensors with allowance for dispersion terms of second order of smallness according to the expansion parameter; this makes it possible to extend the frequency range of the investigation of anisotropic dielectric and gyrotropic structures. The results are extended to structures consisting of two types of regular spatial lattices, the scattering nodes of which contain elements of different geometric dimensions. The Green function of anisotropic dielectrics is represented as the Green function of free space and a factor accounting for the interaction of elements in the elementary-cell volume.
