Other services that may be associated with direct broadcasting
Abstract
It is thought that including the services discussed here might improve the overall economics. These services include international trunk communications, international TV distribution, international business-type services, and offshore communications. Other services that could be offered are TV distribution to community antennas, news distribution, national trunk communications, and national business communications. If the satellite is based on an L-SAT design, two TVBS and 10 or more telecommunications transponders could be accommodated. It is noted that, with only four telecommications transponders within the 250 MHz of available bandwidth, there may be scope for interleaving channel frequencies on the operational and spare satellites, allowing additional transponders to be offered in the space on a preemptible basis.
