Peculiarities of propagation of charged particles in the solar corona.
Abstract
The effect of boundaries of unipolar magnetic regions (UMRs) on the transport velocity of particle fluxes in the corona is investigated on the basis of Venera-11 and Prognoz-7 data on increases of charged-particle fluxes from the flares of November 4 and 20, 1978. It is shown that a UMR boundary significantly reduces the transport velocity of particles in the corona. This is associated with the slowdown of the main 'mass' of particles in the corona as they pass through the UMR boundary within the limits of a particle transport boundary of approximately 2-5 deg/hour. The total particle flux beyond the boundary decreases, and the 'transparence' of the boundary depends on particle energy, which leads to a hardening of the particle energy spectrum
