Unidirectional transfer properties of the plasma-coupled shift register
Abstract
Analytical and experimental results are reported on a bipolar shift register (SR) utilizing a plasma-coupled device (PCD) for transferring potential variation through the bulk. PCD-SR arrays based on symmetrical as well as antisymmetrical conductance transistor switch elements are examined, and a simplified equivalent circuit model is proposed for understanding PCD-SR operation. From the equivalent circuit model, transfer properties due to unidirectional coupling are derived; the calculated potential distributions and operation margins are confirmed by experimental results.
