A note on utilizing far-field phase information
Abstract
The far-field phase information available from an antenna pattern is discarded in most system applications. Making use of such information for an angle-of-arrival estimation application across a relatively wide region of space is discussed in this note. The far-field phase difference response from two simultaneous shaped beam receive patterns generated by a linear array antenna is shown to provide an appropriate relative phase property for making unambiguous angle determinations.
