Dispersion relation for general anisotropic media
Abstract
The dispersion relation for an anisotropic medium having arbitrary tensor permittivity and permeability is derived which contains all cases of practical interest as particular cases and is useful in the study of reflection from, and transmission through, isotropic layered media. The dispersion relation yields two double roots for the allowed values of the component of the propagation constant in the direction perpendicular to the interfaces of layered media.
