Performance of radome-covered reflector antennas
Abstract
An experimental and theoretical investigation is described of the return loss and radiation pattern of a paraboloidal reflector antenna covered by a fiber-glass paraboloidal radome. Satisfactory agreement is obtained. The importance of the central region of the radome is identified and a novel method is described in which the radome profile is modified in the vertex region. Theory and experiment both indicate that the return loss due to the radome can be almost entirely eliminated by this means.
