An investigation of the effects of the discharge parameters on the performance of a TEA N2 laser
Abstract
Experiments have been carried out on a TEA N2 laser driven by a Blumlein circuit in order to investigate the relationship between the discharge parameters and the laser output energy. Experimental results are compared with the results of a computer-aided circuit analysis, and the dependence of the laser output energy on the discharge parameters is discussed in terms of the figure of merit of the discharge circuit. It is found that the laser output energy increases by a factor of 2.5 when the rear reflecting mirror is placed at the end of the discharge tube; the highest efficiency obtained with this device is estimated at 0.18%.
